Preliminary play is complete and the top young hockey players in the world are on to the knockout stage at the 2025 World Junior Championship.
Sweden led the way in the group stage, winning all four games by at least two goals, and stands as the favorite as the top eight teams move into bracket play in Ottawa. Red Wings 2023 draft pick Axel Sandin Pellikka tallied eight points (four goals, four assists) in group play.

The Swedish defenseman and Team USA’s Cole Hutson (two goals, six assists) topped the points list in the preliminary round. A second-round pick by the Capitals last year, Hutson and goaltender Trey Augustine are hoping to lead the U.S. to its second straight gold at the tournament.
Host Canada had a disappointing preliminary round with a pair of losses but can’t be counted out in front of a raucous home crowd.
Here’s how to watch all the action from Ottawa as the World Juniors moves toward the medal round.
Teams were seeded for the quarterfinals based on the group stage standings.
The remaining four teams after the quarterfinals will be reseeded for the semifinals based on preliminary round standings.
World Juniors knockout round games will air on NHL Network in the U.S. American hockey fans can also stream the game on Fubo, which is currently offering a free trial.
For a limited time, you can get your first month of Fubo for as low as $49.99, a $30 savings. Stream ESPN, ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and 200-plus top channels of live TV and sports without cable. (Participating plans only. Taxes and fees may apply.)
Canadian viewers can follow along with all of the action on TSN networks or stream the game on the TSN app/TSN.ca.
