With a 7-4 road win over the Lightning, the Jets improved to 36-14-3 this season. Winnipeg covered the puck line as -1.5 goal favorites, and the total of 11 goals easily surpassed the pre-game line of 6.5 goals.
All seven of Winnipeg’s goals came from different players, and they trailed 2-0 early before rallying. The Jets took the lead for good with a goal at 12:22 in the third period, and two empty-net goals helped seal the victory.
Winnipeg’s offense fired 34 shots on goal and scored 7 times in their 7-4 win over Tampa Bay. The Jets had 7 giveaways but also picked up 10 assists. Vladislav Namestnikov netted his 3rd goal of the season, while Logan Stanley added his 1st. Mark Scheifele scored his 8th goal, and Alex Iafallo found the net for the 1st time this year.
Nikolaj Ehlers scored his 9th goal, including an empty-netter, while Cole Perfetti added his 4th goal, also on an empty net. Josh Morrissey contributed two assists, bringing his total to 13 for the season. The Jets scored 4 times in the 3rd period, including two empty-net goals with 2:45 and 0:37 remaining.
Defensively, the Jets will look to improve after giving up the first two goals of the game and another tying goal at 4-4 in the 3rd period. Connor Hellebuyck recorded 26 saves with a save percentage of 86.7%. The Jets’ defense also contributed 5 takeaways and 31 hits.
Washington’s 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes moved their record to 34-12-6. The Capitals were behind early, as Carolina scored at 5:59 in the first period, but Washington responded with two goals before the period ended. However, the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals to secure the win.
The total for the game was set at 6 goals, and the combined score matched that number. Washington, as the underdog on the puck line, failed to cover. Alex Ovechkin and Brandon Duhaime each scored for the Capitals in the first period.
Washington’s offense managed just two goals in their 4-2 loss to Carolina. Alex Ovechkin netted his 7th goal of the season on a power play, while Brandon Duhaime followed with his 2nd goal. The Capitals took 21 shots on goal and recorded 15 giveaways.
Both of Washington’s goals came in the first period, with Ovechkin scoring at 19:16 and Duhaime adding another at 19:49. Nic Dowd picked up his 2nd assist of the season, and Dylan Strome earned his 13th assist on Ovechkin’s power-play goal.
Defensively, the Capitals will look to bounce back after giving up four goals to Carolina, including three unanswered after taking a 2-1 lead. The first came at 2:29 in the 2nd period, followed by another at 5:26. The final goal was an empty-netter with 9 seconds left in the 3rd. Charlie Lindgren made 41 saves with a 93.2% save percentage, while the defense had 2 takeaways and 20 hits.
For a moneyline pick, I’m taking the Capitals to pick up on a win over the Jets at home. With the moneyline sitting at -115, I’ll be locking in a bet on the Capitals straight-up.
My recommended pick for the puck line is to take the Jets to cover. Even if the Capitals win straight-up, this one should be close throughout and the Jets should cover the puck line.
When considering the over/under line, which is currently at 5.5 goals, we believe that this game will go over that threshold, and we recommend wagering on the over.
