Dallas Stars–Winnipeg Jets Game 6 of the Western Conference second-round series will be battled under the bright lights of American Airlines Center on Saturday, May 17, with Winnipeg looking to extend its season and the Dallas Stars looking to punch a third consecutive ticket to the conference final.
The series deficit is now 3-2 in the Dallas Stars’ favor, with a nationally televised primetime game looming that threatens all of the tension, tempo, and ruggedness of late-spring hockey.
Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets Game 6 broadcast details and why it is important
Game 6 will be broadcast live on ABC in the US at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT locally). Cord-cutters can watch the game on Fubo or ESPN+, which simulcast ABC’s broadcast; Fubo is making the offer even sweeter by including a free-trial period for new customers. Canadian viewers may watch on Sportsnet, CBC, or TVA Sports. Mobile listeners can hear the national audio broadcast on SiriusXM NHL Radio.
Besides convenience, extensive coverage emphasizes the stakes: Dallas is a win away from a third consecutive appearance in the Western Conference Final, and Winnipeg requires a road win to set up the best-of-seven series for a decisive Game 7 on May 19 at Canada Life Centre.
How Winnipeg Jets forced a return trip to Texas
The Jets thwarted elimination Thursday with their most cohesive game of the playoffs. Mark Scheifele broke the nervous deadlock halfway through the second period 4-on-4, and Winnipeg’s special teams dominated from there: Nikolaj Ehlers roofed a 5-on-3 one-timer just 2:20 into the third, Vladislav Namestnikov scored late on a man advantage, and Ehlers added insurance with an empty-netter. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 shots for his first 2025 playoff shutout, a reminder to anyone who might have lost sight of why he is an annual Vezina Trophy finalist.
With two power-play goals in Game 5, the Jets are now 4-for-15 in the series. The Stars are 2-for-17. Disciplines and penalty killing will determine Game 6’s momentum swings.

Jake Oettinger has a .932 save percentage at home this playoffs, but his counterpart, Connor Hellebuyck, became elite once again with a .948 rating in the last two games.
The No. 1 overall Winnipeg Jets announced some sad news before the team played Game 6 against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.
No. 1 center Mark Scheifele’s father, Brad, died during the night, the team learned on Saturday.
“We’re a family and we’re going to do everything we can to support our family,” Jets general manager Cheveldayoff said.
The Jets said Scheifele told the team he will play in Saturday’s game to honor his father.
“Mark really wants to play for him tonight,” Jets coach Scott Arniel said.
The Stars lead the second-round series 3-2. The Jets won Game 5 on Thursday (Scheifele scored the opening goal) to extend the series and are trying to do the same on Saturday in Dallas. They have yet to win on the road this postseason.
If the Stars win Saturday, they will make their third consecutive Western Conference final appearance and face the Edmonton Oilers in a rematch of last season. If the Jets win, Game 7 would be Monday night in Winnipeg.
