In his final lap around the NHL, Marc-Andre Fleury is getting one last taste of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Minnesota Wild goalie took to the net at the start of the third period in Game 5 against the Vegas Golden Knights after starting netminder Filip Gustavsson fell ill.
This marks Fleury’s 18th post-season, moving past Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy for first all-time.
The 40-year-old hasn’t played since April 15 against the Anaheim Ducks, where he appeared in relief and stopped all five shots he faced. Fleury has a career .911 save percentage in the post-season and led the Penguins and Golden Knights to consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances in 2017 and ’18.
The 21-year NHL veteran has announced his intentions to retire when the Wild close out their season.
