The Detroit Red Wings wrap up a road back-to-back on Thursday night against the New York Islanders.
The Red Wings had one of the best starts in the NHL this season. Despite losing the team’s home opener a couple of weeks ago, Detroit bounced back by winning five games in a row, giving fans around Wings Nation some hope that this year’s team will be different.
The winning streak came to an end this past Wednesday, as the Red Wings fell to the Buffalo Sabres, on the road, 4-2. The Red Wings sure still have some things to fine-tune as the season wears on, but they certainly have the tools to be a competitive team in the Atlantic Division.
They now face an Islanders team that is coming off a tough win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. Like Detroit, New York is trying to retool to become a potential postseason contender.
