The Detroit Red Wings get ready for a little Black Friday hockey against a divisional rival, as the team plays host to the Tampa Bay Lightning in an afternoon affair.
The Red Wings are looking to bounce back after a disappointing effort on Wednesday, falling to the Nashville Predators by a final score of 6-3.
Though the team has had some bumps in the road, including a couple of lopsided losses, Detroit is near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, let alone the Eastern Conference, as the holiday season draws near.
The Red Wings have received some quality performances between the pipes, with veteran Cam Talbot leading the way. On top of that, captain Dylan Larkin continues to lead a healthy mix of veteran offensive talent, with young stars like Emmitt Finnie and Nate Danielson contributing to the team’s success.
Though the team has a long way to go, Detroit has the makings of being a legitimate playoff contender.
The Red Wings go up against a Lightning team that, despite battling some injuries, has managed to keep up with the best in the East.
This is the second meeting of the season between the divisional rivals. The Red Wings won the first matchup in Detroit, 2-1 in overtime, last month.
