The Detroit Red Wings look to capitalize on an exciting evening and grab a win on Monday, as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes at Little Caesars Arena.
The matchup between the two division leaders will come after the Red Wings retire Sergei Fedorov’s No. 91, raising his jersey to the rafters earlier in the night.
The Red Wings are quietly one of the best teams in the NHL. Though fans in Hockeytown cannot believe how that statement might be true, the team continues to put together strong efforts to maintain a posture near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Following a 4-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, Detroit has won five of its past seven games, currently holding first place in the Atlantic Division, one point ahead of the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning.
The only team ahead of the Red Wings in the Eastern standings is the Hurricanes. The team has also been on quite the roll, winning four games in a row, expanding their lead atop the Metropolitan Division standings.
These two teams met for the first time this year back in December, when the Canes came away with a 5-2 win in Raleigh.
