The top two teams in the country get set for a marquee matchup on Friday night, as the Michigan Wolverines take on the Michigan State Spartans to open up their weekend set.
These two in-state foes have been going at it on the ice since 1922. They have had many exciting and fierce battles over the years, making any time the Spartans and Wolverines face off must-see television.
However, it does not get bigger than the two teams being the top two programs in the country.
The Wolverines enter the week atop the charts, riding a six-game win streak after sweeping the Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend.
The Spartans also picked up a couple of big wins last weekend, beating the Penn State Nittany Lions both indoors and at Beaver Stadium. Like its rival, Michigan State has won six games in a row, having not lost since falling to Ohio State on Jan. 10.
These two rivals met back in Decemberm with the Wolverines beating the Spartans in East Lansing, before MSU returned the favor at Yost the following night.
Michigan is 180-145-24 against Michigan State.
