Flyers vs. Penguins: The matchup
All 32 teams will take the ice Tuesday night in a celebration of the sport that kicks off with Flyers vs. Penguins at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Winners of a Monday night matchup with the St. Louis Blues (6-3) in Pittsburgh, the Penguins are chugging along just off the first-place pace set by the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Conference’s Metropolitan Division. Pittsburgh improved to 7-2-1 with that win over the Blues, while also winning their past three straight games on the road.
The Flyers sit further down in the Metropolitan pecking order, sitting in sixth place out of eight teams with a 4-3-1 mark and nine points. But Philly has heated up since losing three of its four games to open the season, going 3-1-0 over its past four with a 4-3 shootout win over the New York Islanders in its most recent action Saturday night. The Flyers play the second of five straight home games as betting favorites (-135) over the Pens.
