The highest-scoring Stanley Cup Final game dates back more than 50 years!
Ice hockey as a sport is fun, exciting, and exhilarating to watch with its fast pace, skilled players gliding on ice, and, of course, who can forget the fights in between. The NHL is not only a top ice hockey league in North America, but it is also widely recognized as the best league in the world.
To win the Stanley Cup, teams have to be excellent on offense and defense, and while defense may win Championships, and goaltenders may make stunning saves, the joy of watching the puck in the back of the net is beyond any words.

Over the years, there have been many Stanley Cup Final games that have produced magical outcomes, and several have been high-scoring affairs. But which game is etched in the history of the league as the highest-scoring game in the Stanley Cup Final?
The honor for the highest-scoring game in the Stanley Cup Final belongs to Game 5 of the 1973 Stanley Cup Final between the Montreal Canadiens and the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. This game saw a total of 15 goals being scored, and it was a highly competitive game which ended 8-7 in favor of the Blackhawks.
Heading into Game 5, up 3-1 in the series, the Canadiens had the chance to seal the deal and lift the trophy with a win. However, Chicago had other ideas. The first period was a back-and-forth affair that ended at 2-2. But, it was the second period which saw the most action as a total of 8 goals were scored, and the period ended with Chicago up 7-5.
Although the Canadiens outscored the Blackhawks in the final period 2-1, it was not enough, and Chicago came out on top in a game marked in the NHL’s record books as the highest-scoring Stanley Cup Final game to date.

I am a content writer for the NFL team. I joined The Playoffs recently at the beginning of February after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. However, this is a career change for me as previously I used to be a French to English translator. I started out in the sports media field because of two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis as well as my passion for writing. I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unites and entertains like nothing else!
