The Penn State men’s ice hockey team will look to make history tonight.
The Nittany Lions will try to win and advance in their first Frozen Four appearance in school history when they take on ice hockey power, Boston University. They’ll play in the 8:30 p.m. (ET) NCAA semifinal in the Enterprise Center, home of the NHL St. Louis Blues.
Defending national champion Denver will play Western Michigan in the 5:30 p.m. opener.
Penn State hopes to continue it magical midseason turnaround, which has seen it lose only twice in regulation since Jan. 11. The Lions (22-13-4) somehow began 0-8 in the Big Ten before an unlikely recovery that’s taken them further than ever before under longtime head coach Guy Gadowsky.
The Lions are riding the prolific playmaking of Aiden Fink (PSU single-season record 52 points, 29 assists) and the hot goaltending of transfer Arsenii Sergeev (15-4-4 since Jan. 3).
Boston University (23-12-2) is making its third straight Frozen Four appearance.
