The Rangers are slight favorites at -115 on the moneyline, while the Capitals sit close behind at -104. The total is set at 6.0 goals, suggesting oddsmakers expect some offense but not a shootout. Each team has seen the total go under in three of their last five, hinting that another defensive matchup could be brewing tonight.
Defensively, the Rangers have clamped down hard, giving up only four goals through their first three games. On the other side, the Capitals’ netminder has been standing on his head, turning aside 83 shots and keeping his team in every game.
Given those numbers, and with oddsmakers listing the under at -121, the signs point to a tight, methodical contest. Neither team has shown much offensive rhythm yet, which usually means a slower tempo and fewer scoring chances overall.
