ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The University of Alaska Anchorage hockey team closed out their holiday break on a high note.
Bouncing back after a Friday loss to Niagara University, the Seawolves won Saturday 3-1 over the Purple Eagles in NU’s Dwyer Arena in Niagara University, New York.
Matt Johnson, Connor Marritt and Max Helgeson scored a goal apiece in the win, while freshman goaltender Tyler Krivtsov turned aside 33 of 34 shots in his first collegiate win.
UAA (5-17-3) hosts Alaska Fairbanks (7-9-4) at 7 p.m. Saturday for the final time before the Governor’s Cup series shifts to Fairbanks.
UAA and UAF are currently tied in the Governor’s Cup standings at 1-1.
The Seawolves play the Nanooks in Fairbanks Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 before hitting the road for contests against Connecticut (Feb. 12) and Long Island (Feb. 14-15).
UAA’s final games of the season are Feb. 21-22 against Lindenwood.
