Welcome to The Hockey News – Vancouver Canucks site’s player preview series for the 2025–26 season. In these articles, we’ll preview the players who are expected to play for the Canucks in the 2025–26 season. Today’s edition will focus on Tyler Myers, who is entering his 17th NHL campaign this year.
Myers had a productive 2024-25 season. The 35-year-old recorded 24 points in 71 games while averaging 20:48 of ice time a night. Myers also had the opportunity to play in his 1000th career game last year, and is one of nine players from his draft class to achieve the milestone.
This off-season, The Hockey News gave Myers a B letter grade for last season. He was once again a key part of Vancouver’s top four and was a leader both on and off the ice. If anything, the 2024-25 campaign proved that Myers is not slowing down with age as his six goals were his most in a single season since 2020-21.
Based on the Canucks current roster, Myers will once again play a key role on the blue line in Vancouver. Depending on how Adam Foote and his coaching staff want to deploy their defence, he could play on the second pair with Marcus Pettersson, or be Quinn Hughes’ partner for a significant portion of the season. It is also likely that Myers will once again wear a letter for the Canucks as he has become a big part of their leadership group.

Myers is also projected to be a big part of Vancouver’s penalty kill next season. In 2024-25, he logged 157:25 shorthanded, which was the most by any Canucks defender. Whether it is on the first or second unit, Myers should once again be one of the team leaders in shorthanded minutes next season.
The 2025-26 season will also be a historic one for Myers as he has the chance to surpass a few milestones. He is one goal shy of 100, four assists shy of 300 and five points away from 400 for his NHL career. Overall, it is safe to say that Myers and his teammates will be able to celebrate some significant career accomplishments potentially early in the campaign.
