In a series of tweets last Thursday, the Smith Entertainment Group and the NHL announced the temporary name and sweaters for Utah’s new professional hockey team.
After officially closing its acquisition of the former Arizona Coyotes franchise, the organization revealed that the team will be known as the Utah Hockey Club ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season. Additionally, the team will utilize four separate logos, which will be used on the team’s rink and various merchandise.
Back in April, the NHL’s board of governors approved the relocation of the Coyotes to Utah, ending a nearly 30-year stint in Arizona. Utah’s first opportunity to make changes to its roster will be during the NHL draft, which takes place June 28-29. Free agency follows shortly after, opening July 1 at 12 p.m. ET.
More information on the team, including the 2023-24 lineup, press releases and a link to purchase tickets, visit nhl.com/Utah. Online voting is underway for the team’s future official name, which the team will adopt ahead of the 2025-26 season. Votes can be cast at bit.ly/3yKIzxo and the polls close on June 20.
