The only game on Sunday’s NHL docket features Utah Hockey Club and the Toronto Maple Leafs from Scotiabank Arena (7 p.m. ET, NHL Network).
Utah is playing on consecutive nights for the first time this season, while the Maple Leafs – hotter than an egg on the hood of a car in the most oppressive Utah heat – haven’t played since beating Vegas 3-0 on Wednesday.
Among the Stanley Cup odds favorites, the Maple Leafs have won six of their last seven overall and at Scotiabank Arena. Eight of their nine home wins were by at least two goals. Meanwhile, Utah Hockey Club trounced a woeful and tired Pittsburgh Penguins team 6-1 on Saturday and have won two of their last four on the road.
Our Utah Hockey Club vs. Maple Leafs prediction expects the well-rested home favorites to take advantage of heavy Utah legs and fire a ton of shots on net.

Best odds: -118 via Betway | Implied probability: 54.13%

After playing in Boston on Thursday and Pittsburgh on Saturday, Sunday’s contest represents Utah Hockey Club’s third game in four evenings. It’s also the first time they will play on consecutive nights, providing a golden opportunity for the Maple Leafs to jump on them early and often.
While backing the Maple Leafs on the 3-way ML at -120 is also an appealing play, I am concerned about the prospect of Toronto having difficulty lighting the lamp.
Seven regulars, including Max Domi, David Kampf, Max Pacioretty, Calle Jarnkrok, Matthew Knies, and Auston Matthews, are out for Craig Berube’s squad due to injury.
That said, the Maple Leafs haven’t played since Wednesday, when they beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 at Scotiabank Arena. In addition to being well-rested – excluding the aforementioned injured contingent – they have some young, energized blood looking to make a splash on the NHL scene.
That injection of energy and youth should bode well for this prop, as the Maple Leafs will look to pile the pressure on weary Utah.
Andre Tourigny’s squad has allowed at least 29 shots in three of the last five, while the Maple Leafs are overdue for a high-volume shot evening on home ice.
A winning $10 bet will yield an $8.47 profit.
NHL picks made Sunday; odds subject to change.
Best odds: -154 via Betway | Implied probability: 60.63%
Sometimes, you have to just reach out and grab the lowest-hanging fruit. While the -154 odds make me wince like one of the Maple Leafs’ injured players, the matchup and scenario are too good to pass up.
Nylander’s shot production has been high recently, with the 28-year-old firing at least four shots in four of the last five games.
The impetus for Nylander to shoot will be even more pronounced without his usual linemate, Knies. And then there’s the fact that Nylander fired 32 shots in the previous three games against the then-Arizona Coyotes.
That’s an astronomical average of 10.7 shots in that stretch. In the last six games against the then-Coyotes, Nylander had at least four shots in all but one.
It’s a three-star play due to the expensive -154 price. A winning $10 bet will profit $6.49.
