SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Hockey Club ends its three-game homestand against the Detroit Red Wings tonight.
Utah has one each of its last two at home as well as three of its last four. With hopes still alive for a postseason appearance, wins or draws are basically a necessity in the last month of the season.
Detroit finds itself in a nearly identical situation. Utah is six points from the second Wild Card spot and the Red Wings are five points. However, the recent stretch of games looks a lot different for the Motor City. They have lost two in a row and have just two wins in their last 11 games.
This is the second and final matchup between Utah and Detroit this year. They last faced off on March 6 when the Hockey Club picked up a gritty 4-2 victory.

If the Utah Hockey Club is able to get a win over the Red Wings tonight, they’ll tie their season point total from a year ago (77) with 11 games remaining on their schedule this year.
Progress 📈📈📈

Mrazek is hurt after a great rush opportunity from Dylan Guenther in close.
Mrazek took an awkward spill and immediately went to the bench.
Lyon has replaced him in net for #LGRW

GUENTHER SCORES ON THE POWER PLAY!!!!!!
WHAT A PASS FROM KELLER.
1-0 UTAH!

This is one of the most impressive goals the club has scored all season.
Watch Keller’s head before he delivers the puck. He takes a quick look for Guenther, sees he’s there, delivers a perfect pass, and Guenther buries it.

Schmaltz just got robbed by Lyon right in the slot.
Great setup but an even better save.
Game remains tied.

Guenther has looked incredibly dangerous tonight.
In addition to his goal, he’s had several chances in close off the rush. He’s flying out there.
