UJ D1 Men’s Hockey Stops Waldorf For 4th Straight Game – News Dakota


JAMESTOWN – Again, the Jimmies had a good outing against Waldorf and kept their good late season play going.
Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey defeated Waldorf for the fourth straight game Saturday and extended their winning streak to six games with a 5-0 shutout of the Warriors at Wilson Arena.
Goalie Brandon Weare stopped 36 shots for his second consecutive shutout for the Jimmies (22-11-1-0), his fifth of the season and the 26th of his career.
Marcus Fritel scored twice for Jamestown in a three-goal second period.  His first goal came at 1:36 from Kole Christensson and Darius Makse.  Kaelan Shelton gave UJ at 2-0 lead at 6:38, with assists by Jacob Thomas and Tanner McCracken.  Fritel tallied again at 10:53 from Makse and Griffin Bourassa.  Jamestown led 3-0 through two periods.
Carson Brown scored at 49 seconds of the third period from Trey Stephenson.
Alex Erichuk scored the Jimmies’ last goal at 6:45 of the third.
UJ outshot Waldorf 44-36.
On Senior Night, the Jimmies will host Minot State on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Jamestown’s final game of the regular season.
