Twelve current and former OHL players set to participate in the inaugural Hockey Night in Muskoka Game – Canadian Hockey League

Bracebridge, ON is gearing up for a night of high-speed action, hometown pride, and heartfelt giving as the inaugural Hockey Night in Muskoka takes over the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre on Thursday, August 14 at 7:00pm. The event promises a star-studded lineup of NHL talent, twelve of whom are current or former OHL players, and a community rallying behind two vital causes: the United Way Simcoe Muskoka and the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.
For organizer Joe Rockbrune, this event is more than just a game, it’s the culmination of years of planning and passion.
“We’ve been discussing Hockey Night in Muskoka for a few years now,” Rockbrune said. “Bracebridge has a beautiful new facility, and it’s become the preeminent place for NHLers to train. We thought, why not bring the NHL experience to the community and raise money for causes that matter?”
Rockbrune’s vision quickly gained traction when he connected with former Toronto Maple Leaf Kris King, a local legend with deep roots in the region.
“I grew up in Gravenhurst and ran a hockey school in Muskoka for 30 years,” King said. “This just made a lot of sense. The hospital is used by all of us, and the United Way is such a great charity.”
The game will feature teams captained by King and Wendel Clark, with a roster that includes current NHL stars like Evan Bouchard (London Knights), Dylan Cozens, and Brandon Montour, as well as alumni favourites such as Mike Johnson, Brad May, and Cody Hodgson.
“We’re tapping into the local guys, some alumni, and current players to give the people in Bracebridge and Gravenhurst a nice look at NHL hockey,” King said.
The event has already sparked excitement across the region, especially among young fans. “Today’s kids look up to NHL players just like I did,” King added. “Having them in their backyard is a special experience.”
