SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Saturday night was the Thunderbirds’ Hockey Fights Cancer game at the MassMutual Center.
Puck drop was at 4:05 p.m., and merchandise sales and special raffles sold at the game will go to support local cancer based charities and research, making the game even more impactful for everyone in attendance.
The team continued its commitment to ‘Bitsy’s Army,’ a charitable cause established by Thunderbirds forward Sam Bitten.
Bitten tragically lost his cousin Martin to a cancerous brain tumor at age 31, and ever since, the Bitten family has been raising money and awareness for brain cancer research.
