How confident are some in Florida Panthers hockey country that their team will take the Stanley Cup?
One video making the Panthers social media rounds shows the faces of Panthers player Matthew Tkachuk, Aleksander Barkov and others super-imposed over the faces of pall bearers carrying a casket on their shoulders with an Edmonton Oilers logo on it.
Safe to say they’re confident, it would appear.

ONE. MORE. WIN. AWAY. pic.twitter.com/TSe2iKyLBF
Said the fan who posted the coffin meme, David @David954FLA: “Florida Panthers are one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. Tuesday can’t come fast enough. What an opportunity.”
Of course, not all Panthers fans and commentators were quite so swaggering in their optimism. Some go so far as to suggest the Panthers will lose Game 6, then win the Cup in Game 7.
Here are some. of the highlights of their social media commentary and podcast talk heading into Game 6 on Tuesday night, much of it heating up on after Florida’s convincing 5-2 Game 5 win over the Oilers, that coming one day before Father’s Day:
Panther Pourri: A Florida Hockey Now Podcast @PantherPourri
The Panthers are the better team. There isn’t anything surprising about this result (in Game 5). We’ll see if Edmonton’s desperation effort can force game 7.
Commentator Cody Stevens, the Cats ‘N’ Rats podcast
Edmonton just has not been good enough 5-on-5 in this series.

I mean Games 1 and 2 happened and ever since then Edmonton has only looked like they are in this
series when they’ve been in desperation mode — and that’s it.
I speak for all Canadians when I say happy Father’s Day, Brad Marchand! pic.twitter.com/Yws1eKb53s
Commentator Jacob Langsam of PantherPourri, a @FlaHockeyNow Podcast
Hope Jake Walman gets Brad Marchand a nice card tomorrow (for Father’s Day)

I THOUGHT PICKARD WAS THE ANSWER??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What a time to be a Florida Panthers fan, man.

The Florida Panthers are one win away from a legitimate conversation about if this is their dynasty era
Commentator Alex Lopez, the Panther Pourri podcast
The reality is the Panthers should be skating around with the Cup right now if they didn’t blow Game 4.
Commentator Cody Stevens, the Cats ‘N’ Rats podcast
Draisaitl was meh tonight (in Game 5), and the (Oilers) depth guys had their game last game.
Commentator T.J. Peterson, the Panther Pourri podcast
I fully expected that. I fully expected them to win that game (Game 5) comfortably.
Panthers fan BKHockeyTalk @BKHockeyTalk
SKINNERRR SKINNERRR SKINNERRR SKINNERRR getting ready for Tuesday see you soon Stu
This series should be over. End it Tuesday. Period.
Commentator Alex Lopez, the Panther Pourri podcast
Brad Marchand decided to channel his inner Connor McDavid… Marchand has one less goal in this series than Connor McDavid does in the entire playoffs… We’re in a situation that’s exactly the inverse of last year. If the Oilers win the next two games and take the Cup, the Conn Smythe should still be Sam Bennett or Brad Marchand. There isn’t an Oiler that’s deserving.
Commentator T.J. Peterson, the Panther Pourri podcast
McDavid just overall in this series hasn’t really made an extraterrestrial impact other than once in Game 2, a game that the Oilers didn’t even win.
Commentator Cody Stevens, the Cats ‘N’ Rats podcast (on why McDavid has yet to face much criticism)
Because he is the Golden Boy of the NHL If you look at the best players in every league a lot of the times they will not be heavily scrutinized by the media… When (ESPN commentator) Stephen A Smith talked on First Take (show), he asked (former NHLer) P.K. Subvan like, ‘Hey, when do we start to criticize this guy?’ He was right. And you know P.K. is going to stick up for the hockey guys because he’s like kind of like outnumbered there. So I understood his answer, but the answer is you could have criticized him (McDavid) through Game 3. Like it definitely could have been a conversation. And if you do, it’s going to be like ‘Oh, he has no help.’
Commentator T.J. Peterson, the Panther Pourri podcast
Oilers are about to go into desperation mode Game 6. And I would say if you look at the Panthers over the course of this playoff run this has not been a spot that they’ve thrived in. They’ve had two chances to close out series at home, Game 4 against Carolina, Game 6  against the Leafs and that was probably their two worst games of the playoffs… Because of the two previous times they’ve had close out games at home I’m scared…. (But) they can win Game 7 on the road easily
Commentator Jacob Langsam of Panther Pourri, a @FlaHockeyNow Podcast
There has not yet been a full game in which the Oilers have just dominated.
Commentator Nick Levine, the Cats ‘N’ Rats podcast
Panthers, they have that DNA .They have that championship mindset They’re resilient. They come back after losing Game 6 last year They win Game 7. You come back after losing a hard one in Game 4 this year. You win in Game 5. You also take a look at how we did it… We shut it down. Absolutely shut it down . We kept it to the outside…. That’s how you play with a lead.
Commentator Kirby Lupul, the Cats ‘N’ Rats podcast
What about (commentator) Craig Simpson tonight mentioning on the Sportsnet broadcast, ‘The Oilers are really missing Zach Hyman here.’ It’s a 4-1 game at this point. What are you talking about, Craig Simpson? You don’t mention that with 10 minutes left in the game when it’s 4-1 Like, that’s loser mentality.
Panthers fan Barkovmemes @barkovmemes
All of this feels too good to be true. Winning tomorrow feels too good to be true. Hope I’m very wrong.
Commentator Alex Lopez, the Panther Pourri podcast
It was nice for the Panthers to get a fortunate bounce goal considering how many the Oilers have got in this series, with that Sam Bennett goal, where you know Chucky (Matt Tkachuk) shoots the puck right into Walman and it just settles perfectly for Bennett to put it in… (Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard) was so far out of the net to face the Chucky shot. When it’s on the rush and there’s multiple people  that made no sense, and that’s what happens when you start a journeyman, mid-tier, backup goalie in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. They make mistakes like that.
Panthers fan Bryan @Metalpanthers
Still so wild to me that the team that went the first 23 years of my life without winning a single playoff round is 1 win away from winning back to back cups and being universally recognized as one of the greatest teams of the salary cap era.
What a time to be alive. One more
Commentator T.J. Peterson, the Panther Pourri podcast
I you just don’t think that the (Edmonton Oilers) team that is top heavy is going to be able to thrive in the environment where the compounding fatigue is just piling up and exponentially affecting you more and more, and also like the ice isn’t good and their players that rely upon quick stick-handling and skating are not going to be as effective. A chaotic environment favours a team like the Panthers way more. I would suggest this isn’t setting up well for them.
