With NHL training camps still more than a month away, fans appreciate that European leagues are already playing preseason games. Detroit Red Wings’ prospect news is already drifting across the Atlantic.
Left wing Noah Dower Nilsson (73rd, 2023) is off to a quality start playing for Frolunda. The @LGRWProspects has provided us with some interesting Nilsson updates and highlights. He posted three assists in his first preseason game and contributed a nifty shootout goal in his second.

Nilsson, 20, is ready to play a more prominent role for Frolunda. Last season, he put up four goals and 10 points in 35 games.
His playmaking ability, and offensive instincts, give the Red Wings hope about Nilsson. The teams need more skill up front, and there’s at least potential in Nilsson. A breakthrough season in the SHL would move him up on Detroit’s prospect rankings.

Detroit draftee Red Savage, son of former NHLer Brian Savage, becomes an unrestricted free agent today at 5 p.m.
Former Red Wings player Teemu Pulkkinen is in therapy as he resumes his career in Finland.
Pavel Datsyuk said on a podcast that the current Red Wings need more quality leaders.
Earlier this week, Red Wings Prospects reported that Anton Johansson (105th, 2022) was on Leksands’ first defensive pairing. Undoubtedly, the Red Wings (and their fans) would prefer to see Johansson in the AHL this season. However, he can still grow his game in the SHL. The only issue is that Johansson is a physical player and playing for the Griffins would have allowed him to explore that ability more than the SHL.
