Here are the current NHL Power Rankings heading into week five of the season. Some teams remain at the top while others have fallen to the bottom.
November could be considered the most impactful month of the regular season. This is the time when you start to see what teams are made of, whether good or bad. It has been another fun week so far, with some tough schedules ahead.
At the bottom of the power rankings, fans will see the Flames, Blues, Wild, and Rangers. The Oilers have managed to hit rock bottom again and lost games in sad ways. They are struggling to compete in early-season hockey. The two most underwhelming teams in week five are the Panthers and the Capitals, who each have 15 points in 16 games; neither is living up to early expectations.
Even though it’s still early, the Bruins look like they are back in the playoff race. They have won their last four games after a long slide in the first couple of weeks. The Lightning, Stars, and Blackhawks have rebounded, winning or earning points in all their games.
The Avalanche are the new power rankings leader after a nice three-game winning streak. They still maintain the best record in the NHL and have only one loss in regulation. Colorado has been impressive this season, scoring goals and playing excellent defense. Just look at their 9-1 blowout of the Oilers.
Another thing to watch is the recent slumps of the Jets and Golden Knights with .500 records. They started the season off hot, winning all their games. Now they can’t get a win. The Ducks have been a nice highlight recently, playing their best hockey. Their young, fun, talented roster has made for some exciting games.
The season is moving fast, and soon it will be panic time for some teams due to the tight schedule. Fans should be excited to see what these teams can do. Stay tuned for more sports and entertainment content.
