The men’s ice hockey competition is consistently one of the top three most-watched sports at the Winter Olympics. In many countries, particularly in North America and Northern Europe, it is considered the “premier” event of the Games but for Canadians, it is far and away the most-watched event. For example, during the 2014 Sochi Games, nearly half of the entire Canadian population tuned in to watch the gold medal game.
Jordan Binnington will get the start in goal for today’s semifinal game against Finland.

Canada are favorites to win the gold medal in men’s ice hockey at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Canada reached the quarterfinals by betting Czechia 5-0, Switzerland 5-1, and France 10-2 and surviving a scare against Czechia in overtime 4-3 and a 3-2 win against Finland in the semifinal.
The official 25-man roster for the Team Canada men’s ice hockey team was announced on December 31, 2025.
The team is a mix of legendary veterans and elite young talent, featuring two-time gold medalists Sidney Crosby and Drew Doughty alongside 23 players making their Olympic debuts.
