Tage Thompson injury update: Team USA forward's Olympic status vs. Canada – USA Today

MILAN — All signs point to Tage Thompson being good to go for the U.S. men’s hockey team for the gold medal game.
The forward took part in USA’s practice on Feb. 21, and appeared to be in good form.
“Tage skated today and he looked really strong out there,” coach Mike Sullivan said.
Thompson blocked a shot with his foot during USA’s semifinal against Slovakia, and, with the Americans leading 4-0 after two periods, was held out of the third period for precautionary reasons. Sullivan said after the game he anticipated Thompson being available for the final game of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
USA faces Canada for the gold medal on Feb. 22 at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
Thompson’s goal in the semifinal gave him three goals and four points in five games.
“He’s been great,” Quinn Hughes said. “He’s a great player and just been fun getting to know him. He’s going to be ready to go tomorrow.”
The United States and Canada will have an 8:10 a.m. ET puck drop in the gold medal game of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
