SUDBURY, MA – While he was a healthy scratch at the beginning of the World Junior Hockey Championship tournament, Teddy Stiga, a winger at Boston College and a native of Sudbury, made his presence felt on the ice when it mattered the most.
His breakaway goal in 3-on-3 overtime gave the United States a 4-3 lead over Finland, and they held on to win their second straight and seventh overall title.
“You got to find a role,” Stiga told the Associated Press. “It wasn’t always points and scoring. Being able to top it off with one there was pretty cool.”
