The Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights clash for the second time in less than a week when they meet on Tuesday (10 p.m. ET, ESPN+).
There will be two main differences. The first is the venue, which is certain: T-Mobile Arena in Sin City. The second is the total number of goals. I veered down the Over/Under track on Friday, opting for Under 5.5. It didn’t pay off, as the Stars won 4-3.
I’m going back to the well with my Stars vs. Golden Knights prediction and picks for this one, expecting goals to be at a premium.

On Friday, a four-goal explosion in the second period at American Airlines Center scuppered any hope of the Under. But there’s ample reason to believe this one between the Stanley Cup odds favorites will be different.
Eight of the last 10 Stars’ games had five goals or fewer, with the only exceptions coming against Vegas and Colorado on the road. Eight of their previous 12 in enemy rinks also hit the Under, providing more reason to pull the trigger. Dallas allows the fifth-fewest goals on the road (2.70) and the third-fewest overall (2.45).
Their first meeting of the season also occurred in Las Vegas, where the Under hit and the Golden Knights prevailed.
The Golden Knights’ defense is markedly superior on home ice, where they are tied for allowing the fifth-fewest goals per contest (2.38). Compare that top-five unit to their 18th-ranked defense on the road, where they allow 3.13 per game.
Eight of the previous 10 games at T-Mobile Arena had five or fewer goals, including five of the last six. I expect having the last line change will benefit the Golden Knights, who should be way more detail-oriented than they were in Dallas last week.
A winning $10 bet will profit $11.

Stone comes to life against the Stars, particularly regarding the helpers he provides for teammates. He has 31 assists in 36 games, the third-most on the team. Only Jack Eichel’s 0.96 assists per game eclipse Stone’s .86. The Golden Knights’ captain had three helpers in Dallas on Jan. 24, making it four assists in the last three games.
Stone has 19 assists in 20 contests against the Stars, including 12 in the previous 10. He failed to notch a helper in only one of those games. A winning $10 bet will profit $7.46.
