Despite a 2-1 final in Game 3, Tony Satori believes the scoring will continue as it did in Games 1 and 2. Find out why he's backing the Over as the teams play in a pivotal Game 4.
NHL
The Dallas Stars hold a 2-1 series lead over the Colorado Avalanche as Game 4 gets underway Saturday at Ball Arena.
Following Dallas’ 2-1 overtime win in Game 3, my Stars vs. Avalanche predictions expect the goal scoring to pick up in Game 4.
Read on for my NHL picks for Saturday, April 26.
The Colorado Avalanche were the superior team this season, analytically speaking. Although the Dallas Stars finished with a better record, Colorado ranked higher in expected goals for percentage (xGF%).
The Stars have only held a lead for fewer than two total minutes in this entire series, and their overtime heroics are unlikely to keep them afloat in the long run.
My Stars vs Avalanche pick: Over 6.5 (+110 at BET99)
That said, the total is worth targeting in this game. There were seven total goals scored in Game 2 of this series, and although the scoring dipped in Game 3, it is likely to pick back up in Game 4.
Goaltender Jake Oettinger starts in net for the Dallas Stars. He has allowed four or more goals in four of his past six starts, posting a 2-4 record with an .879 save percentage and 3.64 goals-against average over that stretch.
Meanwhile, goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood starts across the ice for the Colorado Avalanche. He has been inconsistent lately, allowing three or more goals in four of his past six games.
Blackwood is 1-5 with an .891 save percentage and 3.03 goals-against average over that stretch.
Not only have both goaltenders struggled recently, but both offenses are also capable of taking advantage. This season, both teams finished in the top six of the league in goals scored per game.
Finally, there have been seven or more total goals scored in four of the past six meetings between these two teams.
Over 6.5
Nathan MacKinnon to score
Tyler Seguin to score
Nathan MacKinnon is one of the best players in the world and has scored five goals over the past six games. On the other hand, Tyler Seguin is starting to heat up for Dallas at the right time.
He has scored in each of the past two games and is coming off a regular season in which he posted a remarkable 19.6 shooting percentage.
