Staples athletes compete in floor hockey game – Westport Journal

NEWTOWN–The Staples-Norwalk-McMahon hockey co-op put together a floor hockey team and traveled to Newtown High to take on the Nighthawks in a game to benefit Newtown Unified Sports.

A tremendous comeback effort by Staples sent the game into overtime before Newtown prevailed 8-7. The Wreckers helped support a good cause in addition to providing strong competition.
Members of the Wreckers, coached by Matt Bohn, are Cooper Paul, Shane Power, Ford Scherer, Devin Harris, Harry Goodburn, Uzi Greenman, Kyle Hesen and Mason Mountain.
Andy Hutchison has been covering school sports — including Staples athletics — as well as news and feature stories, since the 1990s. He is the sports editor at the Newtown Bee. He writes for the Monroe Sun. He was director of communications and radio color commentator for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (now Islanders) hockey team. He has won numerous writing awards, including regional and national first-place honors.
