The 2025 Stanley Cup Final is underway as the Edmonton Oilers host the Florida Panthers in Game 1.
The series is a rematch of last year's final, which the Panthers won in seven games.
Follow along as our reporters on the ground in Edmonton and our team of NHL experts across the continent have you covered with the latest insight and analysis.
P2 1:13 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
A wild sequence as a crazy carom off the boards nearly gives the Panthers a free goal, but Skinner does just enough to break up Barkov's opportunity.
The Oilers break the other way and Rodrigues catches Draisaitl up high as he crashes the net, earning himself a minor for high-sticking.

P2 1:59 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
Ekblad forces a save from distance by Skinner, but Tkachuk was right on the doorstep of the goal looking for a redirection. He looks shocked he didn't manage to make contact with the puck as it flew by.
P2 4:00 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
Two big chances for the Panthers in the space of a minute as Tkachuk has a great opportunity to shoot around a screen but can't get enough on his effort, before Verhaeghe misses the net with a free shot in the slot.
P2 6:18 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
The Oilers are buzzing now. A sustained spell of possession in the offensive zone creates two dangerous chances. First, Walman skates through the slot before firing a backhand shot on goal, before Frederic has a fantastic chance moments later on a rebound.
P2 8:00 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
We're 60 percent through the second period and the Oilers have recorded exactly one shot on goal this frame. They did score with that lone shot, however.
P2 10:00 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
A great set play by the Panthers following a faceoff win in the offensive zone sets Bennett up with a fantastic opportunity to get his hat trick, but Skinner makes a big save. Jones rips a powerful slap shot a moment later, but just misses the net.

P2 11:05 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
McDavid checks Rodrigues into the ref, who tumbles to the ice, prompting light cheers from the Edmonton crowd. They're still unhappy that Knoblauch lost his challenge in the first period, which contributed to both of Florida's goals in that period.
P2 13:05 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
Janmark was all alone in front of the Panthers goal but couldn't corral a centering pass that was whipped by him.
This game is being played at a frantic speed at the moment.
One reason why the Oilers have achieved success this postseason? Their depth scoring. That was Viktor Arvidsson's second goal this postseason.
P2 16:43 – Panthers 3, Oilers 2
The Panthers' two-goal lead lasts just 1:17 as Arvidsson benefits from a pair of screens to beat Bobrovsky from distance!
The Oilers’ solid start falls further and further in the rear view mirror.

P2 18:00 – Panthers 3, Oilers 1
Verhaeghe releases Schmidt down the left side. It's a 2-on-3 rush but he manages to find Bennett in all kinds of space in front of the net. Bennett goes forehand-backhand and beats Skinner for his league-leading 12th goal of the postseason and second of Game 1!
Jake Walman is on the bench to start the second period.
P2 20:00 – Panthers 2, Oilers 1
The Oilers looked great for most of the first period, aside from that disastrous two-minute stretch. They'll be looking to get back on top here as we resume action.
Leon Draisaitl's goal just 66 seconds into the game was the fastest opening goal of a Final in nearly 50 years and the sixth fastest all-time.
Brad Marchand's goal in the first period was the eighth of his career in the Stanley Cup Final, tying him for the most among active players with Corey Perry, Evgeni Malkin and Ondrej Palat.

Sam Bennett's goal in the first period, deflecting Carter Verhaeghe's shot while making contact with Stuart Skinner in the crease, goes down as his 11th of this postseason, extending his league lead in the playoffs.
Bennett matches the Panthers' record for most goals in one playoff year, equaling Matthew Tkachuk's total in 2023 and Verhaeghe's in 2024.

Panthers 2, Oilers 1
The was a lot to like about that period for the Oilers other than the score. A questionable goal against, a failed challenge and an unsuccessful penalty kill on the subsequent Panthers power play is to blame for that.
