Talk about a case of bad puck, or should I say luck!
The Sioux Falls Stampede were forced to postpone their Tuesday, December 2 hockey game after illness swept through the team like a slapshot to the sinuses.
Apparently, too many players ended up in the dreaded illness penalty box, leaving the squad without enough healthy bodies to meet the USHL’s minimum roster requirements. ’Tis the season, the most wonderful time of the year, unless you’re counting colds, flu, and whatever mysterious winter crud decides to drop by your home uninvited.
Dakota News Now reports the Stampede issued a statement Tuesday saying they simply didn’t have enough healthy players to compete. The game against the Des Moines Buccaneers will now be played on Tuesday, March 31, at 7:05 PM at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
Stampede President/CEO Jim Olander apologized for the inconvenience, saying the health and safety of both teams come first. He also thanked the Buccaneers for being good sports and prioritizing player well-being over the game itself, always easier to do when you’re not the sick ones.

If you had tickets for Tuesday night’s game, good news: they’re still good for March 31. Digital tickets will automatically transfer, so no need to dig through your email.
With any luck, the Stampede will have shaken off the sniffles by their next outing, a home matchup against the Lincoln Stars on Tuesday, December 9.
Get well soon, fellas. And maybe double up on the vitamin C.
