The Ottawa Senators are surging as they march into Bridgestone Arena on Monday to play the struggling Nashville Predators (7:30 p.m. ET, Amazon Prime).
The Senators find themselves in third place in the Atlantic Division with the fifth-best points percentage since Dec. 5 (.679), just four points adrift of a Toronto Maple Leafs team among the Stanley Cup odds favorites.
I’m jumping aboard the Senators locomotive for our Senators vs. Predators prediction and picks, expecting them to make it five wins in a row.

Despite winning four in a row and being one of the NHL’s elite teams over the last two months, the Senators roll into Monday’s game versus the Predators as the +105 underdogs.
The reason for their underdog status is twofold. First, the Sens are 4-6-1 in their last 11 road games. They lost the previous two in enemy barns, failing to score in the Big Apple and Beantown. The second is the Predators’ recent uptick at Bridgestone Arena, where they’ve won four of the last five.
While those are valid reasons, I can’t see the Sens losing momentum against a Nashville team with the third-worst points percentage (.422). Ottawa won the last four games, all of which were at home. They’ve been defensively superb since Dec. 5, allowing the second-fewest goals per game (2.14).
Only the Washington Capitals have been better defensively in that timeframe, allowing 2.07. Speaking of the Caps, Ottawa exploded for five against them on Thursday. They followed up that dynamic offensive display by scoring six in the subsequent game, a 6-0 rout of the Minnesota Wild.
A lack of offensive production has seen them score the fifth-fewest goals per game since Dec. 5 (2.57), so scoring 11 in two games, five of which against the league’s best defense, should fill the team with confidence entering the four-game road trip.
Nashville has lost four in a row, three on the road. Their second-worst away points percentage (.296) has ended any chance at making the playoffs.
They’ve also traveled a lot recently, and I can’t see a tired, ragged team drained of confidence at the bottom of the standings beating the piping-hot Senators. A winning $10 bet will profit $10.50 at our best sports betting sites.

Giroux has posted an assist in four straight, so I’m going with the hot hand. While he only has 25 assists in 52 games, Girioux’s recent spark has helped the Sens break out of their offensive slump. I see him extending his current streak against a Predators team that is tied for allowing the eighth-most goals per game (3.22).
The +137 odds add extra appeal as a winning $10 bet will profit $13.70.
