As the NHL regular season heats up, the Seattle Kraken head north to face the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre. The Kraken, guided by coach Lane Lambert, sit at 3-2-2 after a rocky stretch. Meanwhile, the Jets, led by Scott Arniel, have stormed out to a 5-1-0 record — one of the best starts in the Western Conference.
Seattle’s coming off back-to-back losses to the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers, struggling to find consistency. Yet, their 2-0 conference record shows this team can still compete when it counts.
The key now is turning that into results on the road.
Winnipeg, on the other hand, is riding a five-game heater. Their recent 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames proved they can grind out tough games and protect leads late. Sitting second in the Central and third in the conference, the Jets look every bit like a team built to sustain success.

Oddsmakers have taken notice of Winnipeg’s hot start, listing the Jets as -225 moneyline favorites. Seattle sits at +186 as the underdog, while the puck line gives Seattle -1.5 (-136) and Winnipeg +1.5 (+112). Translation: Vegas expects a close one, but Winnipeg’s form gives them the clear nod.
Seattle’s recent form hasn’t been pretty. Losses to Washington and Philly exposed defensive lapses, and even their lone recent win — a 3-2 nail-biter over Toronto — came with some shaky moments. Still, the Kraken have handled divisional foes well, and their depth can keep them in striking distance.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg’s confidence is sky-high after wins over Nashville, Philadelphia, and Calgary. They’re finishing chances, limiting mistakes, and getting big saves — the three pillars of early-season dominance.
If that continues, they’ll stay near the top of the standings for a while.
Let’s start with the obvious — the Jets are flying. Winners of five straight, they’ve been one of the most balanced teams in hockey. Their 3-2 grind-out over Calgary highlighted their poise under pressure, and their offense continues to roll.
Mark Scheifele’s been an absolute force, posting seven goals and three assists through six games. He’s driving the top line and producing like a man on a mission. Meanwhile, Connor Hellebuyck remains the Jets’ backbone, earning four wins in five starts with 139 saves — steady, composed, elite.
Statistically, Winnipeg ranks fifth in goals scored and eighth in assists, showing both top-end talent and strong puck movement. Their team defense hasn’t been perfect, but when you’ve got Hellebuyck behind you, it doesn’t need to be.
The Kraken have been up and down to start the year, picking up just one win in their last five outings. Offensively, they’ve shown flashes — but the lack of finish in key moments continues to cost them games.
Jordan Eberle leads the way with five points in seven games, proving once again that veteran experience matters. Chandler Stephenson and Jaden Schwartz have also contributed five points apiece, giving Seattle some secondary scoring that’ll need to step up against Winnipeg’s defense.
Goaltending has been inconsistent. Joey Daccord’s been solid with three wins in five starts, but the tandem of Philipp Grubauer and Matt Murray hasn’t provided much relief. If Seattle wants to claw back above .500, their crease needs stability — and fast.
Seattle Kraken vs. Winnipeg Jets bottom line: Winnipeg’s hot streak makes them the obvious pick, but if Seattle can rediscover its defensive structure, they could steal one.
Here is my Jets Kraken free pick. The Winnipeg Jets are absolutely flying right now, riding a five-game winning streak that’s turned plenty of heads across the league. Not only have they won each of those contests straight-up, but they’ve also done it with confidence, taking every game by at least a goal. That kind of consistency screams momentum — and right now, Winnipeg has plenty of it.
Conversely, the Seattle Kraken have hit a rough patch, dropping four of their last five outings. Even worse, two of those losses came by three or more goals, showing that their defensive structure just isn’t holding up. Despite flashes of effort, they’ve struggled to generate enough offensive rhythm to hang with faster, more physical teams like the Jets.
Given their dominant form and home-ice advantage, the Jets are the clear play on the moneyline.
Additionally, Winnipeg’s top line continues to dictate the pace, while Connor Hellebuyck has been stellar between the pipes, giving bettors every reason to trust this squad right now. Considering both the trends and the confidence level the Jets are playing with, it’s hard to find value on the other side.
Therefore, the smart move is to back Winnipeg to stay hot (if you don’t like the -225 juice I’m good with a -1.5 bet too) and keep their winning streak alive in front of their home crowd.
