Say hello to Tusky, Utah Mammoth hockey team mascot – Gephardt Daily

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 17, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Mammoth fans have met the NHL club’s new mascot.
The skating, elephant-headed, 6-foot-5 performer in a team uniform is named Tusky.
The Tusker made his surprise debut, reportedly to thunderous applause, stepping out of an ice block on the Delta Center rink at the club’s Thursday home opener.
By Friday morning, his announcement on Facebook had drawn more than 9,000 reactions, 545 comments and 664 shares.
Commentary was mostly positive, with criticism focusing more on the name than the design. “The obvious name was Wooly. You dropped the ball — or puck, as it were,” one user wrote. “He needs a tail,” wrote another.
Many fans were effusive. “He looks like he got stuck in a cotton candy machine, and I love him,” one comment said.
“The best thing to ever come out of the state of Utah. He must be protected at all costs,” another user wrote. Some went for pithy sarcasm: “They really missed out on the ‘Stormin’ Mormons’ opportunity. The mascot wears slacks and a tie. When a home goal is scored, no horn — rather, a doorbell rings.”
