After losing the opener in overtime and storming back with a convincing victory in Game 2, the Regina Rebels feel energized heading into the decisive game of their Saskatchewan Female Junior Hockey League championship series against the Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks.
“We’re pretty happy and it was exciting,” said Rebels defender Brooklyn Hramalak, who scored four goals in a series-tying 5-2 victory Sunday at the Al Ritchie Memorial Centre. “We haven’t beaten Outlook for a long time, since September.”

Hramalak opened the scoring on a first-period wrist shot and followed with a successful slapshot, although an official scoring change evidently awarded that tally to teammate Abigail Manz.
Nyah Lang also scored for Regina during the second period, before Hramalak completed her scoring onslaught with two goals in the third period, counting an empty-netter. Outlook’s Emma Carson and Teanna Crossman also scored in the third period.
“I’ve never scored that many goals before,” said Hramalak, a native of Roblin, Man., who represented her province in national events and played AAA minor hockey. “Not in this league.
“Maybe years ago. Before I started playing in this league I was playing high school hockey for three years, contact hockey against boys, so it definitely made me an aggressive player, but I never really scored that many goals in high school.”
Outlook won the first game 4-3 in the best-of-three series and, because the Ice Hawks placed first in the regular-season standings above the second-place Rebels, gets hosting privileges for Game 3 on Friday, 8 p.m., at the Jim Kook Recplex.
The SFJHL is in its second season, established in 2023 to give women a competitive league after their under-18 and high school careers ended. Hramalak moved to Regina three years ago to begin taking actuarial science classes at the University of Regina, where she’s a classmate with Jonathan Podbielski, a Canada West champion runner on the Cougars track team.
“I came here to pursue my post-secondary education,” said Hramalak. “I missed one year of hockey because (the SJFHL) just started last year.
“When I first moved to Regina I didn’t play any sports because I wanted to focus on my academics. I didn’t think about playing U of R or any hockey, I had no hobbies and no sports — it was so boring! When I found out the league was starting I was super excited to be able to play hockey for another three years.”
Regina eliminated the reigning champions, Saskatoon Prairie Blaze, to qualify for the championship series.
