It’s been a solid start to the season for Detroit Red Wings defense prospect Anton Johansson. However, Saturday proved to be a day he’ll probably want to forget.
Playing for Leksand in a 4-1 loss to Lulea, Johansson unfortunately opened the scoring for the opponents by accidentally swatting a puck into his own net.
Later, during the second intermission, Leksand coach Johan Hedberg revealed that Johansson would not be returning for the third period due to an undisclosed injury.

“I don’t know, I’m not a doctor,” Hedberg told Sweden’s TV4 when asked what the issue was with Johansson.
Detroit selected Johansson 105th overall in the 2022 NHL entry draft. The Swedish rearguard was impressive last season in a late-season stint with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins. He earned an entry-level contract from the Red Wings.
He has two points in five games for Leksand this season. Johansson, 21, is leading the team in average ice time per game. He’s skating 21:53 per game.
Other members of the organization were also reluctant to speak about Johansson’s status after the game.
“I can’t say anything,” Leksand assistant coach David Printz said.
There was a hat-trick on the weekend for a Dower Nilsson brother. Unfortunately, it was the brother that the Red Wings opted not to keep.
In a 4-1 victory over Sodertalje, Liam Dower Nilsson netted three goals for Bjorkloven. A 2021 Detroit draftee, the team didn’t sign Dower Nilsson by the June 1, 2025, deadline. He’s currently playing in Hockey Allsvenskan, the Swedish second division.
The Red Wings selected his younger brother, Noah Dower Nilsson, in the 2023 draft. Playing for Frolunda in the SHL, Noah began the season as a healthy scratch.
However, Noah Dower Nilsson got into the Frolunda lineup following an injury to Jere Innala. “Dower came in and did a great job there,” linemate Jacob Peterson told Hockey Sverige.
He picked up an assist on Saturday as Frolunda edged HV71 by a 2-1 count.
In the Russian JHL, 2025 Red Wings draftee Nikita Tyurin is turning in a dominating level of performance.

The player Detroit chose 140th overall is leading all MHL players in ice time. Tyurin is skating 24:13 per game. With 2-4-6 totals, he’s tied for seventh in points and tied for third in goals among defensemen.
Earlier this week, Tyurin signed a four-year, two-way contract with Spartak.
