After squandering a 3-0 lead in last night’s loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Montreal Canadiens look to get back on track when they host the New York Rangers (7:30 p.m., TSN2) at the Bell Centre on Sunday.
With Montreal on an 11-3-1 run in its last 15 games and New York going 6-1-2 in its previous nine, our best sportsbooks are pricing this contest as a toss-up.
However, our Rangers vs. Canadiens prediction and picks see value in the Habs, with rookie Jakub Dobes set to make his home debut on the back of a sizzling 4-0 start to his carer.

The Rangers also come into tonight’s contest on a roll, collecting points in eight of their last nine games (6-1-2) to gain much-needed traction in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
However, that run appears unsustainable, with New York failing to score more than two regulation-time goals in four of its last five games, including yesterday’s 1-0 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Tonight’s projected goaltending matchup is the significant factor that should tip the scales toward Montreal. Habs rookie goaltender Dobes is expected to make his home debut tonight, looking to build on a brilliant 4-0 start that has seen him post a 0.98 goals-against average and .963 save percentage.
Meanwhile, the Rangers will likely turn to backup Jonathan Quick, who has allowed nearly four goals per game since the end of November and has dropped seven of his last eight starts.

The legend of Lane Hutson continues to grow. The rookie can set a Canadiens franchise record (no small feat, given Montreal’s rich history) for first-year defensemen if he records a point tonight for the eighth straight game.
Hutson tied the franchise mark last night with an assist in the Canadiens’ loss to the Maple Leafs, his 11th point during a seven-game point streak. That production is even more impressive considering the Canadiens scored 20 goals during that span, meaning Hutson has factored in more than half of Montreal’s offense.
Betway’s -115 odds on Hutson recording at least a point tonight are the best I could find among SBR’s list of top sports betting sites, better than -118 at FanDuel, -120 at BetMGM and -126 at Caesars. Betway is also offering an attractive +105 on Hutson to earn at least one assist, which is worth considering since 34 of Hutson’s 37 points have been helpers.
