UConn hockey secured a significant 4-1 victory over Quinnipiac in their first-ever NCAA Hockey Tournament game.
UConn goalie Callum Tung made 21 saves and allowed only one goal, while players Joey Muldowney, Tristan Fraser, Ethan Gardula, and Hugh Larkin scored goals.
The win marked a major milestone for UConn, defeating a recent NCAA champion in their first-ever NCAA Hockey Tournament in program history.
The game was intense, with Quinnipiac pushing hard to close the gap, but UConn’s strong defense and Tung’s exceptional saves ultimately led to their triumph.
UConn will play the winner of Penn State and Maine.

It’s also a reminder that Quinnipiac is not giving up. A break in play as the UConn goalie Callum Tung seems to be hurt. Could have had the wind knocked out of him or something more; it’s unclear right now.

It’s hard to view UConn as an underdog in this game, but the inexperience in the tournament is certainly there from a program perspective.
With that said, they don’t look out of place in the first few minutes.
