On Sunday, Perrysburg hockey will be hosting its annual Hockey Fights Cancer game during the regular season finale against AW at 1 p.m. at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Ice Arena.
Last year, the game raised over $5,000 “and this year we look to eclipse that mark,” Perrysburg coach Kevin Fisher said.
Last year coach Fisher’s niece, Everly Laux, dropped the puck at the centennial opening faceoff, and this year she’s handing those duties over to Frank Elementary’s Michelle Waddell. Waddell is cancer survivor and a teacher in the Perrysburg community.
There will be a 50/50 raffle, t-shirt sales, a signature collection to hang the names of cancer survivors, as well as a chuck-a-puck contest to win Toledo Walleye tickets and ride on the Zamboni.
Perrysburg hockey is uniting with the NHL and NHL Players’ Association with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge and Road to Recovery Program.
