Here is my best player prop bet for Game 5 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final:
McDavid isn’t a prolific goal-scorer compared to the unbelievable rate at which he piles on helpers. And he hasn’t scored during the Stanley Cup Final, which is all the more reason to back the Oilers captain for stamping his indelible imprint on the series in such a pivotal swing game.
His lack of goal production hasn’t been due to a lack of shot attempts, shots on goal, or chances created. It’s quite the opposite.
McDavid is tied for the second-most shots in the series (17) with Sam Reinhart and Brad Marchand. Only Evan Bouchard, with an outrageous 27, has more. McDavid’s averaging 6.25 shots per contest, so it’s clear he’s not passing up many opportunities to fire on Sergei Bobrovsky.
He’s also overdue. McDavid has a 13.2 shooting percentage in the playoffs. While this playoff is down to 7.2%, not scoring on 17 shots is abnormal for him. And he’s been getting a few excellent looks, too.
