Two points separate the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers entering Thursday’s pivotal clash at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Thanks to winning six of their last seven, the Panthers are the Atlantic Division pacesetters and the Stanley Cup odds favorites.
The Maple Leafs lost three of their last four but prevailed in a shootout against Utah Hockey Club on Monday despite coughing up a three-goal lead.
Our Panthers vs. Maple Leafs prediction and picks focus on the chances of five goals or fewer while profiling Matthew Knies and Florida’s two Sams.
Here are my best Panthers vs. Maple Leafs predictions and player props for tonight’s NHL matchup with my pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale. Be sure to check out the rest of our NHL picks along with our guide on how to bet on NHL.
As of Thursday at 6 a.m. ET, the Panthers are the -118 favorites to beat the Maple Leafs in tonight’s NHL matchup from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. I predict the Maple Leafs will beat the Panthers in a game with five goals or fewer.
Here are the latest Panthers vs. Maple Leafs odds and betting lines from our best live betting sites.

Excluding games with teams fighting for a postseason berth and the playoffs, contests don’t get much more meaningful. The importance of Thursday’s tilt is one of the first reasons I’m backing Under 5.5 goals, as time and space are usually at a premium with so much on the line.
The second, more critical factor revolves around Florida’s recent play. For the first time all season, their defensive play mirrors last year’s Stanley Cup-winning squad. Paul Maurice’s team has allowed four goals in the previous five games, staggeringly securing three shutouts in the process.
They’ve won eight of the last 10 games, allowing just 1.30 goals per game, the fewest during that timeframe. With a 5-2-0 record, a .940 save percentage and a 1.45 goals-against average (GAA) in his last seven, Sergei Bobrovsky is also rounding into peak form. Plus, the Panthers’ previous five games had five goals or fewer.
The Maple Leafs have been poor defensively recently, coughing up multi-goal leads in three of the last four. That’s precisely why I feel they’ll be markedly better, with Craig Berube relentlessly reminding them it hasn’t been anywhere good enough.
Anthony Stolarz, who is 8-3-1 with a .933 save percentage and a 1.95 GAA on home ice, should get the nod, another reason I fancy the Under. I expect the Maple Leafs to grind out a gritty 3-2 victory if Chris Tanev plays. While that result could flip if he doesn’t play, I’ve made my bed on this one.
Here are my best Panthers vs. Maple Leafs player prop bet odds and expert picks for tonight’s NHL matchup. You can also check out our NHL player prop odds tool for the latest NHL odds at the best legal sportsbooks in your region.

Knies has a point in six of the last seven games. He notched a helper against Utah in the previous game despite his line struggling for the most part. The 22-year-old has been a bright spot playing alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, and I expect him to inject energy, pace, and relentless puck pursuit against the Cats.
Of our best sportsbooks, bet365 is the place to make this wager. It edges the others with the best price, and the -105 odds carry a 51.22% probability.
Best odds: -135 via DraftKings ($10 to win $7.41)

Since Feb. 4, Bennett has tallied 11 points in as many games. He’s taken over in Matthew Tkachuk’s absence, scoring seven points in the eight games without the team’s injured alternate captain. And Bennett loves playing the Maple Leafs, notching five in the last three head-to-heads.
Bennet’s last 11 games have contributed to 26% of his total output in just 17% of the season’s sample size. He’s rolling, and I think it will continue against the Buds.
Best odds: -115 via FanDuel ($10 to win $8.70)
Reinhart’s shot production has been as consistent as Florida’s humidity. On Wednesday, he hit the Over in six of the last seven games and attempted six shots in the lone exclusion against Boston. In the last 18 games, Reinhart fired at least three shots on goal in 12, a 67% success rate.
And, like Bennett, he thrives against the Buds, securing at least three shots in six of the last seven meetings, including three in a row. Plus, Florida has the sixth-most shots per game in enemy rinks (29.4), while Toronto doesn’t suppress shots that well at home, smack-dab in the middle of the pack.
Here are the latest injuries for tonight’s Panthers vs. Maple Leafs matchup, which will update in real time.

The Florida Panthers are the -118 favorite, and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ odds sit at -102.
Oddsmakers have the total at 5.5 goals. The Over is favored (-125), but I’m backing the Under (+106).
