Florida Panthers forward A.J. Greer will be sidelined for Game 1.
Jesper Boqvist is set to take his place for Wednesday’s Stanley Cup Final opener against the Edmonton Oilers, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters.
Greer, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, played in the Game 5 clincher against the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final after missing the previous contest. He appeared to injure himself delivering a hit on Jordan Staal in Game 3.
The 28-year-old posted six goals and 11 assists in 81 regular-season games before adding two goals and one assist in 12 post-season contests.
Boqvist, 26, has appeared in 11 games during Florida’s run to the Final, recording two goals and three assists.
The Swede contributed 12 goals and 11 assists in 78 games during the regular season.
Game 1 between the Oilers and Panthers begins at 8 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. MT with live coverage available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
