The United States once again sits atop the throne of women’s ice hockey.
Ten countries began the journey in the preliminary rounds, but only two squads remained when the final got under way on Thursday: familiar foes.
The United States and Canada.
The rivals played an overtime thriller in Milan, with the U.S. coming out on top 2-1 thanks to a game-winning goal from Megan Keller. The overtime victory lifted Team USA to its second consecutive Olympic gold medal and marked its eighth consecutive victory over its primary rival.

These are the teams that qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament:
Group A:
All five teams in this group automatically advance to the knockout stages, per the Olympic rules.
Group B:
Japan and France were eliminated from the tournament after finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
