The men’s hockey knockout rounds have been set after the conclusion of the preliminary round at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy.
The tournament continues with the qualifying round on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and concludes with the gold medal game on Feb. 22.
The preliminary round ended on Feb. 15 with Switzerland beating Czechia 4-3 in overtime, Canada pummeling France 10-2, Denmark beating Latvia 4-2 and the USA handling Germany 5-1.
Canada finished atop Group A with 3-0 and nine points and the United States led Group C with the same record. Canada won the top overall seed with a better goal differential than the USA. Both teams earned a bye to the quarterfinals, avoiding the qualifying round.
Slovakia, Finland and Sweden each had six points in Group B. Slovakia won the group on a tiebreaker and Finland finished with the best second-place record. Those two countries also got a bye. The remaining eight teams playing in the qualifying round.
