The knockout rounds of the men’s ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics have arrived and all 12 countries that took part in preliminary round-robin play at the Milan Cortina Games have advanced to the single-elimination format that concludes with the gold medal game.
The top four seeds – United States, Canada, Finland and Slovakia ‒ are already placed in the quarterfinals of the Olympic bracket based on their record and goal differential. Their opponents will be determined by what happens on Tuesday, Feb. 17, when there are four qualification play-offs involving the other eight teams to qualify for the Olympic Games this year.
Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Czechia, Denmark, Sweden and Latvia will all compete as part of the first Olympics with NHL players since 2014. The four losing teams will be eliminated from this year’s Olympic competition.
