The Edmonton Oilers begin a three-game road trip tonight in Salt Lake City against the Utah Hockey Club at the Delta Center.

My Oilers pick
Connor McDavid anytime scorer (+110 at BET99)
My Oilers analysis
Edmonton Oilers All-Star Connor McDavid got off to a bit of a slow start this season when it came to actually scoring the puck, but he’s picked it up as of late. The 27-year-old has netted in six of his last eight games and during that span, McDavid has eight goals.
The three-time Hart Trophy winner scored twice in a big 6-2 win over the New York Rangers last Saturday and also hit the back of the net twice on November 19 in a convincing victory against the Ottawa Senators. He’s now up to 28 points, including 11 goals and 17 assists.
The Utah Hockey Club is a new team, so McDavid has never faced them before. However, the expansion franchise is allowing 3.14 goals per night, which ranks 20th in the NHL. A player as talented as McDavid is always going to make an impact, whether it shows on the stat sheet or not.
However, given the way he’s performing this month and the odds sitting at a favorable +110 here, it’s a no-brainer bet.
Connor McDavid anytime scorer
Leon Draisaitl anytime scorer
Oilers total goals Over 3.5
Not only is McDavid playing well, but so is his co-star, Leon Draisaitl. The big German actually leads Edmonton in points with 30, scoring 16 goals and supplying 14 assists. The biggest issue with the Oilers is the lack of production around their top duo. There’s nothing bad to say about McDavid or Draisaitl.
The 29-year-old is on fire lately. He’s scored in three straight games and also six of his last eight appearances. Draisaitl bagged one and tallied an assist in the lopsided win vs New York. If you need more evidence, he tends to play even better on the road, scoring nine goals in 10 games. I expect Draisaitl to produce the goods in Salt Lake City tonight.
The Oilers may rank 18th in the league in scoring with just 2.91 goals per contest, but they’ve been producing a lot more over the last few games. Edmonton has scored 14 times in their last three appearances, putting six past the Rangers, five against the Senators, and three against the Wild in a 5-3 loss.
Again, Utah isn’t great defensively. I see value in taking the Oilers’ Over in total goals in this one, especially if McDavid and Draisaitl both continue to light it up.
