Fantasy sports are all about opportunity. For a guy to produce, he needs to be on the field or court or ice or whatever surface. When looking for hockey streaming players, I’m looking for the guys who play most and take the most shots on teams with good matchups.
Today’s group doesn’t have any great matchups, just OK-to-middling teams in action. Let’s look at five NHL teams with at least decent matchups on Wednesday and the players on those teams who are most involved. Not every player listed below will be available, but it’s good to compare usage across the same team.

Both teams are middling-to-good matchups but with opposite profiles: While Calgary allows a lot of shots per game (fourth) but just an average number of goals, Utah allows an average number of shots and is sixth in goals per game allowed.
Goals are better than shots, so I favor Calgary players in fantasy.
Another game where we can target both teams, but neither is a great matchup. Both the Jets and Red Wings allow a lot of shots but a below-average number of goals per game.
Winnipeg is ninth in shots allowed but just 29th in goals allowed per game. Detroit has given up the second-most shots and 20th-most goals per game.
We’ll only target the Avalanche here, another team that gives us more of a middling matchup than a great one. Colorado has the opposite profile of the Jets and Red Wings: they are just 29th in shots allowed per game, but the Avs have given up the second-most goals per game.
Again, goals are better than shots, so I’ll take the Lightning as the best streamers of the day.
