I don’t have a lot of great matchups for you today. There are only four games, and the Penguins are the only team in action that is in the top 10 in both shots allowed and goals allowed per game this season.
We can still find teams who allow the attack, it will just be a little tougher than some other days. Two games feature teams that have been at least somewhat susceptible to offense.
The Penguins face the Oilers, a team tied for the fifth-most goals allowed per game. Ottawa and Las Vegas have given up shots at a higher rate but have been better preventing goals; on a light day, that will have to be good enough.
Let’s run through the most involved players on those four teams to identify guys who are good streamers on Friday. Not everyone listed below will be available, but this is a good way to compare player usage across the same team.
Team and individual stats are from NHL. Always check actives/inactives before game time to be sure your guys are in the lineup. There’s nothing worse than having an empty spot because someone was scratched late.
The Senators have allowed the 10th-most shots per game and given up the 17th-most goals per game. Ottawa had an opposite profile last season, ranking 20th in shots allowed and seventh in goals allowed.
The Knights rank 12th in shots per game allowed and 20th in goals allowed per game. They weren’t near the top in either category last year.
Pittsburgh is a team to target: They have allowed the second-most goals per game on the fourth-most shots per game. Edmonton is only 30th in shots per game allowed, but they are tied for fifth in goals allowed, giving up more efficiency than volume.
Neither team was in the top 10 in either category last season.
