Canadian Olympian, Mississauga native and 2021 No. 1 NHL draft pick Owen Power is the latest star added to the upcoming Hockey Night in Brampton charity game.
With just two weeks to go before puck drop on the fourth annual charity hockey game, the city says it is keeping the momentum up as more players have signed on in support of building Brampton’s second hospital.
Stanley Cup champion Ryan Getzlaf was announced as a player earlier this week, and now Mississauga’s own Owen Power of the Buffalo Sabres has also signed on to play.
The first overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft, Power is known for his size and two-way play, recording 33 points in 79 games during the 2023-24 season with Buffalo.
He’s also represented Canada on the international stage, helping lead Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championship and playing on the 2022 Winter Olympic team.
“As a local talent and rising NHL star, his return will generate a lot of excitement among fans,” Mayor Patrick Brown said of Power’s addition to the roster. “This year’s event is shaping up to be a truly unforgettable night of hockey, featuring some of the sport’s biggest stars. I encourage everyone to grab their tickets, be part of the action and help support the vital work toward building Brampton’s second hospital.”
This year is the fourth annual Hockey Night in Brampton, with over $14 million raised in support of the Peel Memorial Centre upgrade project in 2024.
Other names already confirmed for this year’s match include Coach’s Corner host Ron MacLean, former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie and Olympic Gold medalist Curtis “Cujo” Joseph, Hockey Hall of Famers Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark, current unrestricted free agent Mark Giordano, former Dylan Chicago Blackhawk Strome, Liam Foudy of the Columbus Blue Jackets and gold medallist with Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, former Calgary Flame and Vancouver Canuck Erik Gudbranson, and Jack McBain, who played with the 2022 Canada Olympic team.
Tickets for the 2025 Hockey Night in Brampton charity game are on sale for $25 and are available at www.hockeynightbrampton.ca.
