MADISON, Wis. (WILX) – No. 1 Michigan State (11-2-0, 4-1 B1G) had its nine-game winning streak snapped with a 4-0 shutout loss on the road at Wisconsin on Friday night. The Spartans, who last lost a game on Oct. 11, were locked in a 1-0 game through 40 minutes, but a pair of Wisconsin tallies at 5:09 and 11:16 allowed the home team to solidify the victory.
An empty net goal at 17:40 sealed it for the Badgers (6-8-1, 4-5-0 B1G), who won for the fourth time in five games. For Wisconsin, Quinn Finley had a pair of goals – both in the third period, one into an empty net. Tyson Dyck and Owen Melenbacher had the other tallies. Goalie Tommy Scarfone made 26 saves.
At the other end, Trey Augustine made 22 stops and allowed three goals. The Spartans and the Badgers complete the weekend series on Saturday at 8 pm ET in a game that will air live on the Big Ten Network.
